In an attempt to avoid the weekend crowds, we went up to Sintra yesterday. This is our fourth time touring the various castles and their grounds, and yet I still can’t shake the feeling that that short train ride somehow transports me to a different world. Each time we go, I notice new and subtly different details about the town and its castles, particularly the myriad wonderful Victorian knick knacks in the Palacio da Pena. This time, there were flowers starting to bloom everywhere, which are a prominent theme in my photos from the day.
